UKIERI- (UK-Indian Education Research Initiative)

Indian Institute of Information Technology SriCity and Edinburgh Napier University UK are funded from UKIERI (UK-Indian Education Research Initiative) and British Council of India for the Virtual Mobility Programme 2021. UK-Indian Education Research Initiative and British Council together have granted a fund of 6000 pounds to IIIT Sri City and Edinburgh Napier University, UK to conduct a virtual student mobility programme between the two universities.

Program Objectives

  • The virtual mobility programme primary objective is to expose students to the cutting edge subject areas from both sides (with remote activities). The objective in terms of technical teaching collaboration and synergize faculty technical strength from the UK with faculty from India.
  • The secondary objective of our virtual mobility programme is to plan for research group meetings among faculty of both institutes in the chosen areas of strength for both the institutes.
  • The final objective is to enhance cultural understanding of students from the UK and India remotely.

As a part of this Virtual Mobility Programme, the 3rd year (and may be 4th year) undergraduate CSE students (10 students from the UK and 10 students from India) are collaborating together to form project groups and plan to work the whole semester from January 2021 to April 2021.

The companies Swiggy, Flutura, and E&Y are happy to participate in the programme as industry partners and will provide problem statements and they will act as clients to the student groups. There will be three groups each in the UK and in India, and they will be working together on projects. The projects will be in the following areas:

  • AI/ML Computer vision
  • Natural Language Processing, and
  • Cyber Security and 5G Communications.
