Introduction

Indian Institute of Information Technology Nature Club is established on 6th October 2017. The Institute has a large campus of about 77 acres. The campus and all properties located on it belong to the Sri City. It has a number of buildings meant for academic, administrative and residential accommodation. It has two hostels for boys, two for girls.

Large area of the campus is occupied by natural vegetation constituting herbs, shrubs, trees and climbers. The flora Indian Institute of Information Technology campus is rich and extremely interesting. It provides home for birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, insects, honeybees, etc.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology authorities have established Indian Institute of Information Technology Nature Club for environmental education, conservation and protection of biodiversity on the campus and Sri City. It is the center for nurturing of knowledge, enlisting the co-operation of volunteers and the inflow plough of new ideas and their implementation.

Aims & Objectives
  • To protect the environment in the Institution premises, Sri City and adjoining areas and also to enhance the knowledge about environmental problems like pollution (air, water & soil), soil conservation, deforestation etc. So that the whole area may be kept ‘CLEAN & GREEN”.
  • To sensitize, create awareness, motivate and educate students about environment conservation.
  • To conduct exhibitions on environment
  • Environment education camps
  • Under the banner of nature club various activities are performed. It includes Bird watching, Butterfly watching, Conservation of Indian Roller, seminars, invited lectures by the guest researchers, afforestation, and watering plants, help to domestic animals and birds etc. Essay competitions and chart preparation on environment are also organized.
  • To create Educational & Research purpose
Future Plans:
  • Introduction of Tortoise, Terrapin/Mud Turtle, and Local fish to Water Well for cleaning.
  • Development of Green belt, Mound formation to develop natural micro habitat
  • Survey of the plant species Age and height, etc. (GBH: Girth of the Breast Height)
  • Survey of migratory birds
  • Bird Call & Video Recording
  • Open Butterfly Garden
  • Conservation and Development of Medicinal Plant Garden

Application of this Policy

The policy applies to the conduct of IIITS Nature club Members and guests that may arise during the course of IIITS business, activities and events, formal or informal including but not limited to, workshops, activities, events, outings, and meetings, as well as any IIITS affiliated social media groups and communities.

Responsibilities

All Members and guests of the IIITS Nature Club have a responsibility to:

  • The institute’s Code of conduct policy is applicable to this nature club
  • Do not litter in public places. Please use dustbins.
  • The policies may be modified by the club committee as required, following a defined process.
Please follow this code and distribute and teach it to others
Any violations of the code of ethics should be reported to nature club head
